OCWE - A Starting Story

Several years ago, I used to shop for Durga Puja festivities and return home to relax on the balcony, enjoying the quietness of the night. At around 12:30 am one night, I suddenly noticed a woman with two children appearing hastily, holding onto each other. When they positioned themselves directly beneath my balcony, I overheard the child saying to his mother, “Look, Mom, they’ve illuminated everywhere, and there’s a pandal. It seems like Durga Puja is coming.” Hearing this, the mother remarked that it meant lights and decorations were happening everywhere, indicating the imminent arrival of Durga Puja.

The child then asked with concern, “Will we also get new clothes this time? Will any elder brother, sister, or someone give us clothes? Look, our clothes have been torn in 1-2 places.” They left shortly after this conversation, but the incident left a lasting impression on me.

The next day, reflecting on the situation, I discussed it with some acquaintances and friends. We wondered if, collectively, we could make a difference in the lives of such underprivileged families. Inspired by this idea, a few of us decided to establish an organization. After brainstorming and pooling resources, we officially registered the organization with the government in 2023.

Our primary goal is to bring joy to the lives of those in need, especially during festive seasons. We aim to provide clothing, essentials, and support to underprivileged families, ensuring that everyone can partake in the celebrations. This journey began with a simple observation and a desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

We Are A Strong Team

At OCWE, we are not just a team; we are a family united by a shared commitment to make a difference. Each member brings unique strengths, passion, and dedication, creating a formidable force for positive change. Together, we stand strong, driven by the belief that education and empowerment can transform lives.

Our Mission:

Our mission is to empower underprivileged children who lack basic opportunities for education, ensuring that they receive a quality education that enables them to break the cycle of poverty. We are committed to establishing a foundation for the younger generation so that they are not bound by the limitations of their circumstances.

Our Vision:

Looking forward, we envision uplifting rural women engaged in household and childcare responsibilities. By involving them in diverse activities, we aim to make them self-independent, enabling them to generate income and meet their own needs. Simultaneously, our goal is to achieve a 100% literacy rate in the country, ensuring universal education and fostering a society where everyone can lead a self-sufficient and empowered life.
